Instagram SOP

How to Share Instagram Content

Later.com

  • We use a scheduling service called Later.com. Login information is in 1Password.
  • Once you are logged in go to the calendar → upload the media → display week by week & schedule.
  • Scheduling is really straightforward - just drag and drop photos you want to share onto the calendar, then click the scheduled image to insert the caption and tag - this screen will then pop up:
  • We are fairly flexible on the caption. If you look back through our Instagram you’ll see that we typically stick with something short and sweet that credits the photographer.
    • Example: “Great shot by Storyteller Megan Allen” or “Amazing photo by The Studio Or Photographer Name.”
      • **Only use the term “Storyteller” if they are an ambassador, you can double check this by checking our ambassadors document or our Raves page on our website, if you are still unsure just leave that out.
    • Then hit the return button 3 times with a period on each level to start the hashtags.

Hashtags

  • Try and post no more than 5-8 hashtags on a single post and make the hashtag relevant to what you are posting.
    • If the image you are posting is of a wedding, be sure to include wedding hashtags. Same goes for if you are posting a boudoir photo - use boudoir related hashtags.
  • Use more photographer related hashtags with images taken by photographers and brand related hashtags when posting an image related to the software

Tagging

  • Make sure to credit the photographer and tag their instagram account to the image
  • I typically put the tag in the corner of the image so that it does not get in the way of the photo
  • A great way to double check their username is to go to the Group Facebook post, find their profile → go to their account → go to the photography business page → click on the Instagram profile → find the image they sent in (they usually only share photos they are proud of, so majority of the time it is on their Instagram account).

Time & Date of when to Post:

  • Typically post within the mornings or afternoons. Best to just follow this chart below for days/times of when to post (note: this graphic is EST, so make sure to translate that to PST)

Posting Strategy

  • For Instagram aesthetics we always post two photographer images and then one software related image
  • Example:
  • To ensure that you have lined up the images correctly, you can use the preview feature in Later to double check. It will show you images you have already posted and those that are pending to post - it will not distinguish what is pending and what has posted, so make note of that when reviewing

General Notes on Strategy

  • Post every other day, this will come out to posting 3-4x a week
  • When saving the image to your computer, copy the name of the photographer and rename the file name to theirs so that you can easily identify the photographer who took the photo and can credit correctly
    • It is very very important to credit the correct photographer**

Finding Content to Share

  • Natalie will post as Andrew in the Storyteller group on Facebook and ask for photos for Instagram. You’ll get some that maybe aren't quite at the caliber, but you’ll get some great ones, too.
    • Use your best judgment on which photos to share and which ones to pass on - there will be a few submissions that you will not use
  • If you do not have enough content to schedule out an entire month, reach out to Natalie as she has folders of images from ambassadors that can be scheduled
  • Discuss with Natalie as to when she should ask for more instagram photos from the group
