Lab Data Integrations (Albums)

**Always add or edit date in the CC TEST server first. Changes will usually be batch migrated in the near future.

  1. Login to Command Center
  2. Select Lab Management
  3. Search for the lab by name
  4. Use the icon of a book to add or edit information

Choose a Product

In the "Edit" page:

  1.  Select "Albums"
  2. Choose the appropriate product type in the drop down menu.  "Album" is the default.
  3. If it's a New Lab proceed to that section
  4. If it's an Existing Lab proceed to that section

______

New Lab?

To make the CSV Import process much easier, first create a new line! Most every column in this section corresponds to a column in the lab's CSV.

Existing Lab?

  1. Once you have found the lab you're looking for and are on the "Edit" page
  2. Export the CSV of current Products
  3. Locate the CSV on your computer and open it with your Spreadsheet program
  4. Take a moment to remove any "Inactive" items from the CSV
  5. Head to Getting to Know the CSV if you are unfamiliar with the CSV

Initial Options

The highlighted fields are important for initial data integration and minor edits.

  1. Create a new item line
  2. Be wary of the "Batch" save option- it's safest to save each line individually (#5)
  3. The Edit box must be checked in order to enter information
  4. "Product Sizes" will display more detailed information to the right.  Without that box checked, the above is all that will be seen
  5. Save line individually.  Safer than "Batch Save"
  6. Name of individual product (Book Line + Size)
  7. Group Tag (Book Line)
  8. Description of item (not a requirement but helpful). If an album is no longer active change its description to INACTIVE.
  9. Vendor Code should be exactly the same as the "Name".  If you leave it empty, the space will auto fill with "Name" when saved.
  10. If a size or book line is available, toggle the "Active" status to "True".  If it's no longer an option or undergoing updates, change it to "False" and change Description to "INACTIVE"
  11. Save (and save again!) and simply Export the CSV. You can then use this as a template for adding/editing a lab's album specs.

NOTES:

CSV's you work with will always be named album.csv. It will be this upon Export and will also need to be this upon Import!!

______

Product Sizes

Once "Product Sizes" is checked, you'll have more boxes to fill in.  Try to enter "0" if it's Not Applicable, as you will not be able to properly save the row if any fields are empty.

  1. Unit of measurement for product line.  Choice of:  Inches, Millimeters, or Pixels
  2. Width of the SPREAD
  3. Height of spread (will be same as height of page)
  4. Dots Per Inch (dpi) most commonly 300, but some labs use 250
  5. Inner Bleed is the SAFE line
  6. Outer Bleed is the CUT line
  7. Rotation should always be 0, for albums
  8. We support both Adobe and Standard RGB color profiles.  99% of the time you'll want sRGB.
  1. If the album starts and ends with a single page, toggle this to TRUE
  2. The width of a sing le page might not be exactly half the width of a spread, if the lab takes gutter and cut lines into account when sizing.  Always check the information provided! And then double-check :)
  3. Single Height should be the exact same as the Height column
  4. Most important for Direct book lines, but also helpful for Design & Export reference purposes
  5. Most important for Direct book lines, but also helpful for Design & Export reference purposes
  6. It would be super if this worked!  Good to make true or false for our own reference, but unfortunately doesn't change the export in the software
  7. Save save save!

**Even if the album doesn't have single pages, enter a 0 instead of leaving blank.

Name

The "Name" section corresponds to the "Album Size" section of the Album Options Window

Group Tag

The "Group Tag" section corresponds to the "Book Line" section of the Album Options Window. Lab's will list their different Album lines here and the software will filter them all by Group Tag to list them by Book Line for this section.

Width

The Width corresponds to the full width of the spread as it is displayed in the software.

Height

The Height corresponds to the full height of the spread and/or page as it is displayed in the software.

Inner Bleed

Inner Bleed is the depiction of an exterior boundary from which users are safe to design, inside. The area inside this boundary is sometimes referred to as the "Safe Zone".

Inner Bleed will be the measurement from the outside edge of the album to the edge of the "Safe Zone". This measurement encompasses the "Outer Bleed" and is usually double its length.

Outer Bleed

Outer Bleed is the depiction of an exterior boundary from which users are NOT safe to design, outside. The area outside this boundary is sometimes referred to as the "Cut" or "Trim".

Outer Bleed will be the measurement from the outside edge of the album to about halfway outside the "Inner Bleed" line.

Example

Using the below album as an example, Imagine you have been given specs for a 10 x 10 inch album, with an Inner Bleed of 0.25 inches and an Outer Bleed of 0.125 inches.

Please list the following measurements on a piece of paper:
